ARTIST RESIDENCY IN ARTS, PURE AND APPLIED SCIENCES, THE HUMANITIES AND TECHNOLOGY – FRANÇOIS QUÉVILLON

Sporobole is proud to announce the launch of a new artist residency program in research and creation. This unique Canadian program, combining the arts, pure and applied sciences, the humanities and technologies promotes independent research for artists wishing to work in synergy within a novel research context that brings forward creativity and inventiveness. Each group will form around a professional artist that will have been invited for a eight-to-ten month research-and-creation residency at Sporobole. The establishment of such an interdisciplinary research program aims at reintegrating artistic ideas and methodologies within scientific, social and technical innovations, as well as providing an extra-artistic environment for collaborative work.

Sporobole believes that today’s contemporary artists progress within creative spaces founded on free thinking and original actions and that these may form the base of methodological, philosophical, scientific, social and technological inventions and innovations. This project is part of Sporobole’s mandate and vision, reasserting the role of artists and their work in the social ecology.

The first research-creation residency will bring together artist François Quévillon, scientists from 3IT (Interdisciplinary Institute for Technological Innovation) and Humanities researchers from Université de Sherbrooke, from October 2014 to July 2015.
