Rebonds is a playful piece that explores the boundaries between rhythm, pitch, texture, and space. The work is inspired by the rhythmic figure of the rebound, a recurrent figure in electroacoustic music, which is characterized by the repetition of an element at a progressively increasing speed. The work was composed for the Sound Window of the Sporobole art center. The goal was to create sound choreographies, by exploring the sound spatialization possibilities of this diffusion system.

The close repetitions, typical of the rebound technique, allow passing from rhythmic textures to sounds with an identifiable pitch. But what happens when these repetitions are played through different speakers? The Sporobole Sound Window also presents two interesting particular qualities. This system consists of a horizontal configuration of sixteen loudspeakers placed one next to the other and it is installed outside in an urban space characterized by its soundscape. How can one compose for a multichannel system that develops on the horizontal axis? How can one create a dialogue with the existing soundscape? These are some of the questions that inspired the first steps of the composition work.

The work is mainly characterized by abstract sound materials, except for a sound of a ping-pong ball. The singing of the birds that can be heard around the center inspired the creation of the melodic and rhythmic patterns of some synthesis sounds.Rebonds presents different spatialization strategies: some sections are characterized by fast sound trajectories, while others contain more stable materials. The work is characterized by the combined use of algorithm-based spatialization and spatialization based on independent audio channels.
